1. Acceptance and Definitions

By exercising any permission granted by this License, You accept its terms.

“Licensor” means Zeev Belkin.

“Software” means the ע\ع (Ayn\Ayn) Lookup source code, packaged or executable forms, documentation, interface text, and project-owned assets distributed with this License. It excludes third-party material identified as separately licensed and the content or services of external websites.

“Official Version” means an exact version of the Software published by the Licensor through an official browser-extension store listing, the official project website, or the official project repository.

“You” means an individual or legal entity exercising rights under this License.

2. Free Use, Study, and Private Modification

Subject to this License, the Licensor grants You a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

1. install and run Official Versions for any lawful personal, educational, professional, or internal business purpose;
2. inspect, study, and audit the source code, including for security research; and
3. modify and build the Software privately for Your own use or for controlled internal use within a single legal entity, provided that the modified Software is not distributed, published, made available to the public, or provided as a service to third parties.

Professional use of AynAyn is permitted. This permission does not permit commercial distribution or a competing public product or service.

3. Free Redistribution of Unmodified Official Versions

You may publish and redistribute an exact, complete, unmodified copy of an Official Version free of charge, provided that:

1. You charge no fee and require no payment, subscription, registration, donation, or other consideration to obtain the copy;
2. all copyright, license, author, project, donation, package-identity, and signature information remains intact wherever present;
3. the page or catalog entry from which the copy is distributed identifies Zeev Belkin as the author, links to the official AynAyn project, and clearly states that the mirror is not official or endorsed by the Licensor; and
4. the copy is not bundled with advertising software or unrelated software.

You may always share links to official download and repository locations.

4. Public Modifications and Derivative Products

Without separate written permission from the Licensor, You may not:

1. publish, distribute, sublicense, sell, rent, or otherwise provide a modified, incomplete, repackaged, or derivative copy of the Software;
2. publish or operate a modified version, derivative product, or service based on a substantial part of the Software;
3. submit any copy or derivative to a browser-extension store under a publisher account not controlled or expressly authorized by the Licensor;
4. extract and reuse a substantial project component in another public product;
5. remove or obscure copyright, license, authorship, provenance, project, or donation notices; or
6. state or imply that a mirror, modified version, or third-party product is official or endorsed by the Licensor.

A source-hosting provider may independently permit repository copies through its built-in fork functionality. Such a platform copy grants no permission to release builds, distribute a derivative product, or exercise rights beyond this License and the provider's own terms.

5. Name, Logo, and Brand

This License grants no trademark or other brand rights in ע\ع (Ayn\Ayn) Lookup, AynAyn, its logo, icons, or trade dress. Truthful use of the project name solely to identify or attribute the Software is not prohibited to the extent allowed by applicable law.

6. Contributions

You retain ownership of a contribution You create. Unless a separate written agreement applies, by intentionally submitting a contribution for inclusion in the Software, You grant the Licensor a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, and relicense the contribution under this License or any other terms. You represent that You have the rights necessary to grant this permission.

7. Funded Development, Donations, and Future Licensing

Donations are voluntary. A donation does not purchase the Software, support, services, promised features, or additional license rights.

Funded development and institutional sponsorship are welcome. Any funding arrangement that creates specific obligations or license rights requires a separate written agreement.

The Licensor may offer the Software under additional or different terms in the future, including an open-source license such as MPL 2.0. Funding or a donation does not by itself require a license change. A later license does not apply to a previously distributed version unless the Licensor expressly makes it available under that later license.

8. Ownership and Reservation of Rights

The Software is licensed, not sold. The Licensor retains ownership of the Software and all rights not expressly granted by this License. No additional rights may be implied.

9. Termination

Your permissions under this License terminate automatically if You violate its terms. Upon termination, You must stop exercising the permissions granted by this License. Termination does not affect the rights of compliant recipients of exact, unmodified copies that You previously redistributed in accordance with Section 3.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE LICENSOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS LICENSE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

12. General Terms

If any provision of this License is held unenforceable, it shall be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in effect.

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. This License is the entire license grant for the Software unless the Licensor enters a separate written agreement.

Future versions of this License do not apply automatically. The version expressly attached to a copy of the Software governs that copy unless the Licensor also offers that copy under different terms.
