Privacy Policy

AynAyn processes text and limited lookup context only to provide its lookup and transliteration features. The developer does not receive or sell this information.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the AynAyn Lookup browser extension (“AynAyn”). AynAyn provides transliteration and looks up text in online dictionaries, translation services, encyclopedias, search engines, and other sources selected in the extension.

Information processed by AynAyn

AynAyn may process:

• text that the user explicitly selects on a web page or types or pastes into AynAyn;
• the user's AynAyn settings and selected lookup sources;
• the current lookup and a limited recent lookup history;
• the title and URL of the page from which a lookup was started, as source context for that lookup.

Selecting text alone does not send it to the developer or to a third-party service. The selection is passed within the browser to AynAyn so that its context-menu and lookup actions can use it. AynAyn does not collect or build the user's browsing history.

How information is used

Submitted text is used only to perform the lookup, translation, search, or transliteration requested by the user. Transliteration is performed locally in the browser. Preferences are stored in browser sync storage when available. The current lookup, a limited recent lookup history, and any source-page context are stored in local extension storage so that AynAyn can restore the user's work between openings.

Third-party lookup sources

When the user starts an online lookup, AynAyn may automatically send the submitted text to enabled third-party dictionary, translation, search, encyclopedia, and other reference services to check availability and load results. Depending on the user's settings, one lookup may contact several enabled sources. Opening a generated link also sends the query to its destination.

Third-party services receive the query and standard connection information, such as the user's IP address and browser information, and may use their own cookies or browser storage. They process this information under their own privacy policies and terms. AynAyn's developer does not control their data practices.

Collection, sharing, and sale

AynAyn's developer does not receive or sell lookup text, browsing information, or extension preferences. This information is used only to provide AynAyn's lookup features. Query text is transmitted only to the enabled lookup sources used to provide the requested results.

Data retention and security

The developer does not operate a server that stores AynAyn queries. Locally stored lookup data remains in the browser until it is replaced, cleared, or the extension is uninstalled. Synced preferences are managed by the browser's sync service. Data retained by a third-party lookup source is governed by that source's own policy.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when AynAyn's functionality or privacy practices change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
